Accelerating innovation: the Health & Tech Collective delivers high-impact insights in Milan

Following its successful global launch in London this January, the Health & Tech Collective arrived in Milan last week for the second installment of its international city tour.

The initiative, a powerhouse collaboration between Coulter Partners, Goodwin, Google, and HSBC Innovation Banking, was joined locally by Panakes Partners to host an evening of high-level networking and strategic debate at the intersection of healthcare, technology, and finance.

Building a global community for local impact

The Collective was founded with a singular mission: to create a dynamic, global community that connects capital, capability, and context to accelerate health innovation. By uniting investors, founders, and industry leaders, the series provides a unique platform for solving the scaling challenges facing the next generation of life science companies.

In Milan, the focus turned toward the Italian ecosystem with a featured panel discussion: "HealthTech Innovation Italy: From vision to implementation."

Key takeaways from the Milan panel

Moderated by Alessio Piuma (Principal, Panakes Partners), the panel brought together a diverse group of visionaries who provided a "boots on the ground" perspective on what it takes to scale in the current climate:

  • Scientific rigour meets commercial scale: Discussions led by Federico Esposti, PhD (Ospedale San Raffaele) emphasized the importance of translating world-class research into scalable clinical tools.
  • The power of digital health: Silvia Wang (Serenis) and Mattia Marco Caruson (mama health) shared insights on navigating the complexities of patient-centric digital platforms and the evolving regulatory landscape.
  • Ecosystem resilience: Roberta Robin Gilardi (G-Gravity) and Francesca Mongardi (LIFTT) highlighted the critical role of incubators, project management, and early-stage capital in fostering a resilient Italian healthtech hub.

Reflections from our team

Our Italian team - led by Client Partner Francesca Lazzarin, Giulia Bacis, Anna Senzacqua, and Yasemin Holland - noted the exceptional energy in the room. Reflecting on the event, Francesca noted:

"Milan is increasingly asserting itself as a vital center for European health innovation. Seeing such a high concentration of founders, investors, and healthcare leaders in one room reinforces why the Collective exists—to turn these high-quality connections into tangible momentum for the sector."

Ian Coyne, Client Partner and initiative lead, added: "The Health & Tech Collective is about connecting the right context to the right capital. The Italian context provided by our panel was truly excellent, demonstrating the depth of innovation currently emerging from this region."

The journey continues

With two cities successfully completed, the Health & Tech Collective continues its global rollout. We are dedicated to strengthening the ties within the world's most vibrant innovation hubs.

Next stop: Paris on the 26th March, in collaboration with Elaia and 50 Partners, led by Nicolas Leray.
